One step at a time will bring us closer to making every Iowa child safe from abuse. Iowa Department of Human Services reports confirmed 12,227 children were abused in 2008. Preliminary reports show the number of child abuse cases increased 11% in 2009. The first annual Champions4Children Walk will be held on May 15, 2010 and will bring public awareness about child abuse issues. Additionally, the Champions4Children Walk will increase knowledge about the services of local Children’s Advocacy Centers and the difference these services make in a child’s life. The Walk will help raise funds through pledges and sponsorships for the four Children’s Advocacy Centers participating in the Walk. Walkers are encouraged to lace up and make a difference for our children! In the past year alone, Iowa’s Children Advocacy Centers provided support and services to over 3,000 children. 03/10 02190
